The Southern Fertilizer Joint Stock Company
April 19, 1976 → Present
Throughout more than 50 years of establishment and development, The Southern Fertilizer Joint Stock Company has always placed trust at the forefront of its relationship with farmers. This represents not only a significant social responsibility, but also the sincere respect and appreciation of the company toward its customers—hard-working farmers who toil “from dawn to dusk.” Step by step, the company has invested in machinery and equipment and cooperated with scientists, consistently taking the lead and creating breakthroughs in scientific research on fertilizer production. This has resulted in the development of high-quality fertilizer product lines serving the agricultural sector nationwide. Southern Fertilizer is proud to be the first company to supply fertilizer for coffee crops in the Central Highlands—the coffee capital of Vietnam. Over time, the company has grown to become the leading name in fertilizer production and business in Vietnam. Its products are trusted and valued by farmers, built upon a foundation of respect and “trust.”
With its transition to a joint-stock company in 2010, the company was able to mobilize external resources while unlocking its internal potential while creating favorable conditions to enter a new phase of transformation and sustainable development, in line with the overall economic trends of the country. The company’s plants have a production capacity of more than 800,000 tons per year of various NPK fertilizers and over 80,000 tons of acid per year, fully meeting fertilizer demand and earning the confidence of both domestic and international markets. In particular, the company places strong emphasis on international integration and cooperation through joint ventures with partners from South Korea and Japan, applying advanced technologies to production. At the same time, it cooperates with domestic scientists to share knowledge and techniques on crop care and the proper use of fertilizers with farmers.
To achieve the results and brand reputation it has today, The Southern Fertilizer Joint Stock Company has overcome numerous hardships and challenges. Looking back on nearly 50 years of development, we are proud to be the first fertilizer manufacturing company in Southern Vietnam to make significant contributions to the development of the nation’s agriculture, and proud to help bring joy to farmers with every harvest.
The Southern Fertilizer Joint Stock Company expresses its sincere gratitude to previous generations who laid the foundation for the company’s growth and strength today. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to our customers and farmers, regulatory authorities, scientists, and international partners who have continuously stood alongside, supported, and accompanied the company throughout its development journey.

History of Establishment and Development
On April 19, 1976, following the direction of the Party and State on agricultural development, the General Department of Chemicals under the Ministry of Heavy Industry (now the Ministry of Industry and Trade) established The Southern Fertilizer Joint Stock Company under Decision No. 426/HC–QĐ. Over nearly 50 years since its founding, from the early days full of challenges, the company has gradually been built, continuously developed, and grown into one of the leading fertilizer companies in Vietnam.

From 1976 to 1985, the company managed several fertilizer production facilities with an average annual output of 50,000 tons, including products such as powdered organic fertilizer, ground apatite, and mixed powdered NPK fertilizer. Notably, the company was the first in Vietnam to produce granular NPK fertilizers, including NPK 3.3.3.18M and 5.10.3G. In the early post-liberation years, despite numerous difficulties, shortages of machinery and equipment, and outdated technology, the company still completed its assigned objectives through the strong determination and effort of all staff and workers.

In 1986, as the country entered the Đổi Mới (Renovation) period following the 6th Party Congress, Vietnam’s agriculture and forestry underwent important changes in crop structure, leading to a high demand for fertilizers. The company was authorized by the State to establish the Superphosphate Plant in the Go Dau Industrial Zone, Long Thanh District, Đong Nai Province, with a production capacity of 100,000 tons per year, meeting the demand for superphosphate products in Southern provinces.

Continuously investing and developing in all aspects over the years, the company has affirmed its reputation, position, and brand in fertilizer production and business. The company implemented a strategy focused on high-quality human resources, training and improving the skills of staff, engineers, and workers, while continuously upgrading technology, equipment, and machinery. In 2005, the company invested in a new acid production line 2 with a capacity of 40,000 tons per year, increasing total acid production to 80,000 tons per year. This supported increasing superphosphate production to 200,000 tons per year and enabled participation in the open market.

In 2007, marking a breakthrough in the company’s development, the Hiep Phuoc Fertilizer Plant was put into operation, producing high-quality granular NPK fertilizers using modern steam drum granulation technology. Currently, with two production lines totaling over 60,000 tons per year at the Cuu Long Fertilizer Plant, the company meets NPK fertilizer demand in the Mekong Delta, Central Highlands, and the Cambodian market. The company’s fertilizers are sold not only domestically but also exported to 21 countries worldwide, including high-quality-demand markets such as Japan and South Korea.

In 2010, the company transitioned to a joint-stock company, with the Vietnam National Chemical Group holding 65.05% of charter capital. With this new operational model, through the dynamic and creative leadership, the solidarity and self-reliance of all staff, party members, workers, and employees, the company’s business operations have stabilized and entered a phase of sustainable development.

In 2015, The Southern Fertilizer Joint Stock Company launched a new logo and corporate identity, marking a long-term market development strategy, reflecting the company’s growing potential and continuous expansion in the international arena.
