August 19 each year is an occasion for the entire Vietnam Chemical Industry to look back on its journey of establishment and development, and its significant contributions to the nation. It is not only a date of historical importance, but also a reminder of the proud traditions, the spirit of solidarity, and the aspiration to rise upheld by generations of industry workers.
The Vietnamese chemical industry was formed during the years of national recovery after the war, carrying a strategic mission: ensuring self-reliance in essential materials and inputs for agriculture, industry, and national defense. From the very early days, chemical production facilities operated under difficult conditions; yet through resilience and a strong spirit of innovation, the industry laid the first foundations for the country’s chemical sector.
Over the decades, the chemical industry has built a proud tradition—remaining closely aligned with its mission to serve production, people’s livelihoods, and national defense. From the centrally planned period through renovation and international integration, the industry has continuously expanded in scale, diversified its product portfolio, and applied modern technologies, making an important contribution to the country’s industrialization and modernization process.
Along this journey, the Vietnam National Chemical Group has played a core role, bringing together the strengths of many key member units to form a large-scale production system operating in a coordinated manner across multiple sectors, including fertilizers, basic chemicals, petrochemicals, rubber, batteries and accumulators, new materials, paints, and coatings. Beyond meeting domestic demand, the Group’s products are also present in many international markets, reinforcing the credibility and reputation of Vietnamese brands.
The Group’s outstanding contributions to the country are reflected in several key areas:
- Ensuring a stable supply of fertilizers, contributing to higher crop yields and safeguarding national food security.
- Producing and supplying chemicals and raw materials for a wide range of key industries such as food processing, textile dyeing, metallurgy, plastics, and technical rubber.
- Developing batteries and accumulators, new materials, paints, and coatings to serve daily life, healthcare, and national security and defense.
- Promoting research, application, and technological innovation toward green and sustainable production, while actively carrying out social welfare activities and making practical contributions to community development.
With a tradition of unity, creativity, and a pioneering spirit, the Vietnam National Chemical Group is not only a symbol of the chemical industry but also one of the pillars of the national economy, continuing to affirm its role and position in the country’s development and international integration.
